EU Cohesion Policy Early Career Researcher Panel

Image - Exciting Opportunity for Early Career Researchers

As part of the 2022 EU Cohesion Policy Conference, a panel with early career researchers on how to improve Cohesion Policy is planned. The panel should address the following questions:

  • How to address the trade-offs between climate transition and social cohesion, given in particular energy price increases?
  • How to mitigate the social and economic impacts of demographic decline in regions most affected?
  • How to increase the resilience of regional economies to asymmetric shocks, in particular in regions heavily relying on vulnerable economic sectors?
  • How can Cohesion Policy create new economic perspectives for less developed regions, peripheral regions or for regions caught in development traps? How could we reinforce coordination and complementarities between Cohesion Policy and other EU policies and instruments (e.g. RRF)?

We are now seeking applicants for this high-level session who address these questions and present their views on changes they would like to see introduced to strengthen cohesion policy.

Successful applicants will be invited to attend the conference in Zagreb, Croatia and will have their transport and accommodation expenses covered.

Eligibility
Applicants need to have a minimum of a master’s degree, be a current PhD student or be an early career researcher within 5 years after finishing their PhD (or equivalent).
